Man falls in police net with arms

Imphal: Churachandpur Police seized arms and ammunitions and arrested one person during frisking and checking in front of Churachandpur police station on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrested person has been identified as one Lemsang Singson, 36, son of late Hankhohen Singson of Longkaiphon village, Tamenglong district presently staying at Tuibong, Churachandpur district.

A combined team of district police Churachandpur and its traffic police were conducting frisking and checking in front of its police station.

During the police activity one scooter (Dio) bearing registration number MN02-9541 was seen coming from southern side along with a pillion rider. When the police team tried stop the vehicle it tried to escape from the police team moving towards northen side.

When the police tried to intercept the vehicle the pillion rider jumped from the scooter and escaped by taking the advantage of the crowd. The police team caught Lemsang and brought inside the police station.

While checking the scooter the police team detected one white bag which contains one country made carbine, one SLR magazine with 19 foreign made ammunition were found.

Lemsang was arrested on the spot and seized the arms and ammunitions along with the vehicle for further necessary action, police said.
