Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling of contrabands in Manipur

Imphal: In two separate operations, Tengnoupal battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) foiled smuggling of illegal cash and contrabands in Khudengthabi and Kwatha villages, Tengnoupal District on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
During routine checking at Permanant Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi an individual travelling in a van was apprehended by troops of Assam Rifles with illegal cash of Rs 20.09 lakh on Tuesday.
In another operation during border domination patrol on the next day, troops of Assam Rifles uncovered a large of packages concelaed in thick foliage in forest. On thorough search of the packages, illegal goods including liquor, cometics items and cigarettes were recovered. The recovered items are assessed to be of worth Rs 10.26 lakh.
The recovered items and cash along with driver and vehicle were handed over to Moreh police and Custom Prevention Force, Pallel for further legal action, the Assam Rifles said.
