AR foils cross border smuggling in Manipur

Imphal: Tengnoupal battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling near Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district on Saturday.

During a border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles uncovered a large number of packages concealed in thick foliage in the forest. On thorough search of the packages, illegal goods including betel nuts, liquor, cigarettes and footwear items were recovered.

The smuggled items are assessed to be of worth Rs 5.29 Lakh.

The recovered contraband items were handed over to Customs department, Moreh, the AR said.
