JCILPS, students’ wing protests against demand to withdraw ILP
Imphal: Protesting against the filing of a complaint by Amra Bengali at Supreme Court to withdraw Inner Line Permit (ILP) system from Manipur, student wing of Joint Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) torched down effigy of Amra Bengali at Mantripukhri, Imphal East on Tuesday.
JCILPS, students’ wing convenor Haobijam Chalamba Meitei said the students’ wing strongly condemns Amra Bengali for filing a complaint at the Supreme Court demanding to withdraw ILP system from Manipur.
He said filing a complaint demanding to withdraw ILP from Manipur amid people of Manipur celebrating implementation of ILP in the state is unfortunate.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh had assured that no one can withdraw ILP from the state. The state leaders should support the statement of chief minister to protect the indigenous people’s right of Manipur.
Amra Bengali filed the complaint at the Supreme Court on its vested interest and to take political mileage. It must be withdrawn immediately, he added.
Police personnel snatched the effigy while it was burning and put off the fire by throwing into a pond.
