CPI Manipur secretary L. Sotinkumar, CPI M Manipur secretary Ksh. Shanta Singh, RSP state secretary K. Manoranjan, Forward Block Manipur secretary Kh. Gyaneshwar Singh and JD (S) Manipur president in-charge K. Loken were present during the announcement.
According to them, the alliance will be given a name within one or two days and will carve out a common minimal policy programme in the interest of the public very shortly.
The alliance was formed to root out BJP regime from the state, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Loken Singh said.
CPI has announced its candidates for Khurai and Kakching Assembly constituencies. For Kakching as the Congress has announced its candidate there will friendly contest in the Constituency. As CPI has announced its candidate for Khurai INC will not fill its candidate and te candidate will be supported by the alliance, he added.
Recently the Congress had released its first list of 40 candidates and the CPI had also named two candidates in its first list of the 60 seats in the Manipur Assembly.
Former chief minister and Manipur CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh expressed his gladness that the like minded six secular parties had joined hands to bring down the BJP led government and its ‘dictatorial rule’.
If the BJP led government continues, democracy will go in peril from Manipur and the state will move backwards in every aspec, he added.
He alleged that not holding local bodies’ election in Manipur by the BJP led government is a clear cut example of their dictatorial rule.
