Imphal: National People’s Party (NPP) candidate of Chandel Assembly Constituency, Lunkhopao Haokip alias Apao said some of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) cadres had allegedly hijacked and burnt down one Gypsy vehicle belonging to NPP workers on Friday.
Apao told th8s to reporters here on Sunday.
He said the incident was occurred at around 8 pm at Twilelon village, Chakpikaong sub-division, Chandel district.
Apao said on Thursday last UKLF leaders openly called a meeting at K Savumpa village, Kehenjoi sub -ivision and at Twilelon village in support of the BJP candidate of the same Chandel Assembly Constituency, SS Ollis and another meeting was also held at Kengjoi village on Friday.
He alleged that the UKLF cadre took signature of the village chiefs, took their phone numbers and gave a stern warning not to work against their dictates. The cadre also cautioned the villagers no any other parties will be entertained in their area of operation. He alleged that the cadre will mark the persons who do not obey their instruction and will be given capital punishment.
Apao said on Friday chief monister N. Biren Singh made a strong remark and warned Kuki militants (SoO) group that they should know what Centre and state governments can take any befitting action overnight of they violate and break the ground rules.
He said in Chandel Constituency the scenario is in complete contrast to CM’s statement made a Saikul. The UKLF cadres are openly campaigning for BJP candidate and threatening, assaulting and using violent means to sabotage the activities of other political parties.
He said the same Kuki militant had demolished one Scropio and assaulted two village chiefs on January 29. In connection to the incident, he had lodged a written complain at authority concerned including Election Commission of India through chief electoral officer, however, no concrete action had been taken yet, Apao, said.
Apao said superintendent of police, Chandel, had identified the alleged UKLF cadre as them.
