COCOMI meets political party leaders on ‘special status’ for Manipur


Imphal: In continuation of the demand for ‘special status’ of Manipur, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has begun to meet political party leaders to unanimously support its demand for a better Manipur.

This was said COCOMI convenor Longjam Ratankumar while addressing reporters at the office of United Committee Manipur (UCM) here on Tuesday.

He said COCOMI had already submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through email on January 19 and as a part of the movement COCOMI has started to meet political party leaders of Manipur to support its demand.

Ratankumar recalled that the memorandum was submitted as per resolution taken during the public convention held at GM hall on December 26 last year.

He said the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election is coming up. Some of the political parties had already released their election manifestoes. He appealed to all the political parties to include the demand of  ‘special status’ in support of the movement initiated by COCOMI.

Ratankumar said an appointment for state president, BJP, A. Sharda has been fixed and in continuation, COCOMI will meet all the state president or secretary of each political party for the same.

He urged all the social activists to support the demand of COCOMI in order to get the demand for the ‘special status’ of Manipur.
