Free Movement Regime along Indo-Myanmar border suspended for another 45 days

Imphal: Manipur home department has suspended the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along Indo-Myanmar border for a period of 45 days.

The suspension of the FMR was ordered in view of worsening Covid situation as well as in view of upcoming State Assembly Election.

The  number of infections of Covid-19 (Omicron variant) cases in Myanmar is high and is likely to pose threat to the people of Manipur if cross border movement of people is allowed, the government order said.

Manipur government on January 1 issued orders for temporary suspension of along the Indo-Myanmar Border for a period of one month.
