Election officials seize Rs 5.98 lakh belonging to JD(U) candidate Ashab Uddin

Imphal: Flying squad team (FST) I, II and III along with static surveillance team (SST) III intercepted one four wheelers (Mahindra Thar) along with Rs 5.98 lakh, JD(U) party flags and banners at Jiribam on Saturday.

In a video clip circulated in social media one of the officials of election said the combined team tried to stop the vehicle bearing registration number MN01AS 2198. The vehicle attempted to escape.

The combined team managed to stop the vehicle and during examination a sum of Rs 5.98 lakh, 68 flags and 4,600 banners belonging to Janata Dal (United) candidate of Jiribam Assembly constituency were detected.

The seized money will be deposited to treasury, the official said.
