Imphal: Moving door to door Union home minister Amit Shah, who is also is also national president of Bharatiya Janata Party, campaigned for BJP for the ensuing Manipur Legislative Assembly election at Bhramapur Aribam Leikai on Wednesday.
Amit Shah attended public meeting at two different places of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.
To receive the BJP leader Bhramapur Aribam Leikai road (New Thumbuthong road) was blocked as BJP supporters formed human chain on both the road side of the area.
Amit Shah was accompanied by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The human chain lined from Loklaobung bridge (New Thumbuthong bridge) upto Youth Club Bhramapur, Imphal East district.
BJP state president A. Sharda Devi, Speaker Y Khemchand, chief minister N. Biren Singh, works minister Th. Biswajit, CAF and PD minister Th. Satyabrata received the Union home minister at Youth Club Bhramapur.
Amit Shah started his door-to-door campaign along Adhikarimayum road which leads to the residence of Sharda Devi.
He along with Biren, Biswajit, Sharda and leaders of Bazar community had a close door informal meeting near the residence of state BJP president.
Amit Shah departed Imphal at around 8.30 pm.
Sharda told reporters that this is the first time that a Union home minister campaigns from door to door at Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.
She said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah BJP has gained more trust of the people. In the coming election the BJP will win more than 40 as assured, she added.
