Imphal: Former Union minister Arbind Sawant of Shiv Sena expressed his confidence in winning in all the nine seats where the party has fielded its candidates for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
Arbind Sawant came Manipur to campaign for State Shiv Sena candidates.
Arbind told reporters here on Thursday that the nine candidates of the party will be participating in forming the new Manipur government.
He said in the last five years there was double engine BJP government, however, development in Manipur is far lagging behind. One of the most crucial issue of Manipur is AFSPA, but, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah did not give any comment regarding the issue during their visit in Imphal, he added.
Manipur is located in the north eastern part of India and along the international border of North eastern state there were issues with Myanmar and China. He said it is good that the Prime Minister and Union home minister assured to solve the insurgency issues in the north eastern states including Manipur. However they did not give any comment regarding AFSPA, Arbind said.
In a democratic form of government having strong opposition is very necessary in order to bring a good governance.
In the state education sector is far lagging behind as most of the higher education studies of the people of Manipur are doing outside the state. If the nine candidates of Shiv Sena happened to be elected as representative then Shiv Sena will press the central government to bring development in education especially for higher education. If the central government fails to listen to the voice of Shiv Sena then they will launched movement, he added.
