Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said, “That might be their opinion, we don’t have any persuasion, we don’t have any connection with any SoO group or anything, that might be their own stand. What I can do?”
Biren was replying to reporters when asked on the report of Kuki militant groups openly supporting the BJP candidates in the ensuing Manipur state Assembly elections.
In two different press releases issued by Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) they declared that hey will be supporting all the BJP candidates in this election. Both the outfits also cautioned that any person or organisation acting contrary to the appeal will be taken as against the Kuki interest.
The chief minster said in the last five years of BJP led government in Manipur the gap between the people in the hills and valley has been decreased and the cohesive relationship among different communities has been getting better. With this there has been peace and development in the last five years of BJP led government. These are the main achievements of the government, he added.
He said this is the time to reciprocate to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to the BJP for what he has served for the state by winning over 40 seats in the coming election.
