WY, Ice drugs recovered in Imphal


Imphal: Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) Police station, Imphal on Tuesday recovered large number of World is Yours (WY) drug tablets from a truck at Keishampat in Imphal.

As a part of continuous and surprise frisking and checking in different areas of Manipur, to check the illicit contraband trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances along different routes, a team of NAB Police station conducted random surprise checking of some suspected vehicles at Keisampat near Yumsha Chicken Centre, Imphal West.

One Tata truck bearing registration number NL 01AD 3983 driven by a person who identified himself as Maibam Deban Singh, 53, son of late Maibam Mitlu of Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai, Imphal West, was detained and checked.

In that 30 packets containing suspected contraband WY (Methamphetamine) tablets drugs were found concealed inside the punctured left middle tyre of the truck. The packets altogether weighed around 32 kg including the weight of the packing material and contain approximately 300,000 (three lakh suspected WY tablets).

In the follow up action approximately 1 kg of suspected Ice drug (crystal Methamphetamine was found at his residence. He was arrested at the spot at about 1.35 pm and the suspected drugs i.e.,approximately 300,000 WY tablets and approximately 1 kg of suspected ice drug (crystal metamphatamine) were seized along with the vehicle.

A case is registered at NAB Police station.

The origin and destination (Assam) of the drug is established in the preliminary investigation and it’s found that the arrested person is a member of inter-state illicit drug trafficking chain. Further investigation is going on, NAB Police said.
