NSCN-K cadre arrested


Imphal: Combined team of 29 Assam Rifles along with special commando unit arrested one cadre of NSCN-K at Thangal (Longjang) village Noney district on Wednesday.

The arrested person was identified as one Kamei Pourei Rongmei, 30, son of K Kanamdin Rongmei of Lungpai/ Nungbai )Noney district.

Based on an specific input from representatives of 29 Assam Rifles and 165 TA (H and H) Assam regarding movement of one suspected person of NSCN-K from Khoupum towards Noney on Old Cachar road in Noney district, the combined team conducted frisking and checking at Thangal village Noney district.

The combined team detained Kanamdin under suspicion and later he revealed that he is an active cadre of NKCN-K. He disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2016 through one Dangmeii Salempou Rongmei. He got basic military training for one month in the general area of Lungchai training centre at Tamenglong district, Tousem sub- division.

He revealed that he was trained to operate weapons such as AK-47 during the training. He was working under the command of one Riamei Gaichamdin Rongmei (self styled lieutenant) of the same outfit and was tasked for collection of tax at National Highway 37 for fund raising for the same outfit, police said.

The person was arrested and handed over to Lamphel police station for further investigation.
