Manipur government urges Nagaland government to stop SAPO bandh

Imphal: In view of the proposed indefinite bandh from Wednesday midnight called by Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) against the so-called failure of the Manipur government to withdraw its armed personnel and permanent structure from Kezoltsa area, Manipur government has written to Nagaland government to take the matter with the representatives of SAPO for immediate withdrawal of the indefinite bandh for the welfare of the general public and maintenance of peace tranquillity in the area.
In a letter to the chief secretary, government of Nagaland, the state government represented by special secretary (home), H. Gyan Prakash reiterated that the permanent structure and armed personnel of the state forces are deployed within the territorial jurisdiction of Manipur as opposed to the claim by the Southern Angami Public Organization. The letter stated that the police structure is constructed within the territorial boundary of Manipur state and can be seen from the satellite map.
Stating that NH-39 is the main lifeline of of Manipur the state government appealed for coexistence of the people of both the states and the issue of relating to territories and boundaries of the states are to be settled and resolved amicably through negotiations between the concerned state governments.
