Manipur Police continues to spoil drug trafficking

Imphal: As a part of Manipur government’s War on Drugs 2.0 Kakching Police recovered Heroin powder at Pallel check post on Sunday afternoon.
The drug was recovered during a frisking and checking at the check-post by a police commando team. One Maruti Gypsy (White in colour) vehicle bearing registration number MN04P-0670 coming from Pallel side was stopped for checking but tried to escape the check-post.
The vehicle was chased by the the security team and was found near Axis Bank, Kakching but the driver had escaped from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
However the team got the information that one woman associated with the vehicle driver was there at Pallel Lamkhai. Accordingly, havildar Chaoba and HC Rohit assisted by one lady commando personnel rushed to the area and detained the woman. She identified herself as Sneha Thounaojam wife of Sarungbam Yoihenba Meitei of Patsoi Part-II I/W, A/P Pallel Chandel Lamkhai. The suspected woman admitted that she was the owner of the drugs and had planned the transportation of contraband drugs by concealing it inside the vehicle. She also admitted that the vehicle driver is her relative, police said.
The vehicle was examined thoroughly after observing formalities and 63 soap cases containing suspected Heroin ( No.4) powder were detected concealed behind the panel of the right door and behind both the panels of the body of the vehicle. The suspected lady was arrested and the suspected drugs were found to be approximately 723 grams (in total) excluding the weight of the soap cases and were seized as well, it added.
The arrested person along with the seized articles is handed over to OC, Kakching Police station for taking up further necessary legal action. Efforts to arrest the driver of the vehicle are underway, Kakching Police said.
