UKLF supports BJP in recent Manipur election: Chairman SS Haokip


Imphal: United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) supported BJP in the recent election as per assurance given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to fulfil its political demand, UKLF chairman SS Haokip said on Tuesday.

Haokip was speaking at 27th raising day observation of UKLF (SoO underground outfit) held at “Designated Nazareth Vamp Muvanphoi” in Chandel district.

During the occasion, home secretary, UKLF, Khupmang; vice chairman, UKLF, Kt Misao; chairman of the 27th raising day committee, Kenedy; some village chiefs of the area took part in the observation.

Haokip hoisted the organisational flag followed by its outfit anthem.

Haokip extended his appreciation towards the people of Manipur for supporting them. He said there is no policy of biasness among the communities, communal hatred as the entire communities of Manipur should cooperate each other in order to bring peace.

He said during the tenure of Congress government no invitation was given to UKLF for political talk. However, with the coming of BJP government, BJP assured to fulfil the political demands of UKLF and due to the reason UKLF supported the BJP party in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly. Besides, Congress tried to defame UKLF that Kuki insurgents support BJP.

“UKLF may change its stand if BJP fails to fulfil its assurance,” the outfit chairman said.

UKLF commemorated the departed soul of the organisation and honoured their family members with the observation of the raising day, he added.
