Manipur governor elates on removal of AFSPA from 6 districts

Imphal: Manipur governor La Ganesan has expressed happiness to learn that the state government removed Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 from six districts under 15 police stations in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Jiribam, Kakching and Bishnupur on Friday.
Consequent upon the considerable improvement of law and order situation in the state, this remarkable step has taken by the state government to fulfil the aspiration of the people of the state, a press release from the governor’s secretariat said on Friday.
The governor of Manipur expressed his gratitude to the central government and under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi, this landmark decision was able to take by the state government.
He expressed his full confidence that in due course the whole state will be free from any unwanted situation due to the invaluable cooperation from the people of the state.
