CM appreciates shopkeepers, appeals street vendors not to congest street


Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh appreciated shopkeepers of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar for cooperating with the government’s order on shifting of vehicle parking space.

Biren told reporters on Friday that the government’s order regarding shifting of vehicle parking from the two market areas was issued to ease the commuters and pedestrians against traffic congestion.

He appreciated the shopkeepers in the city for cooperating with the government’s policy taken in connection with the smart city.

Biren said as a part of the 100 days programme of the BJP government the market shed constructed for street vendors at Lamphal and Temporary market near family welfare department will be completed.

He appealed the street vendors not to vend on streets mainly in city area to avoid traffic congestion.

The shops at Paona, which were closed protesting the government’s order of shifting of parking place, were reopened on Friday after the shopkeepers were assured by state authority to allow customers to park by the jobs for some minutes.
