Immediate action will be taken against charging money for free rice: Letpao

Imphal: Anyone who takes money from beneficiaries for free ration distributed under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) will be taken immediate action, MLA Letpao Haokip said on Wednesday.

Letpao was speaking during distribution of ration at Zion village.

Letpao said the ration of PMGKAY scheme is distributed under the Samajik Nyay Pakhwada. Necessary action will be taken against any fair price shop or agents who takes money from the beneficiaries while distributing the ration under the scheme.

He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the ration is distributed to the needy people on free of cost and no individual cannot take any benefit while distributing the ration.

Beneficiaries should inform him immediately if money is charged for the free ration, he added.

A total of 5 kg of rice were distributed to each beneficiaries of 10 villages of Tengnoupal district.
