Employees renting government quarters will be punished, says Biren

Imphal: State government will evict all illegal occupiers of government quarters and those govt employees who are renting their quarters to others will be suspended and further necessary action will be initiated for termination.

Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said this on his Facebook wall.

“This action is being taken up to check the illegal activities by many illegal occupiers of the quarters,” Biren said.

A government notice issued in April end mentioned that there are instances of government quarters including government guest houses, government buildings, etc., are either illegally occupied or sub-let to un-authonsed illegal occupants by the government employees to whom the quarters are allotted.

This has been viewed very seriously by the state government and this has adversely affected and deprived those genuine government employees from getting government quarters, it added.

It said if state authority finds unauthorised occupants at government quarters, strict disciplinary action like suspension of the concerned government employees will be initiated. If the un-authorised occupants are found to be private parties or individuals, they will be booked under the appropriate Rule of the Law in force and even FIRs will be lodged against them and prompt punitive action will be taken up against them, it added.
