IED blast at Khurai decried

Imphal: Various organisations protested against the blast that triggered at the residence of executive engineer of department of agriculture, RK Virendra at Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai in Imphal East on Friday early morning.

Members of Eastern Popular Club; Yaipha Lamjing Nupi Lup; and Apunba Nupi Lup, Khurai along with coordinating body of Khurai staged a sit-in at community hall of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai, Imphal East.

The sit-in decried against the ‘bomb attack occurred at residential area’ on the early morning of Friday.

The bomb was suspected to be Intensified Explosive Device.

The blast damaged properties including vehicles.

A protestor Hijam Jina Devi told reporters that the locals strongly condemned the terrific incident that occurred in the residential area where a fuel station is also located adjacent to the blast site.

Who will be responsible if the fuel station happened to get fire? Lots of innocent life could become victims of the blast. Many students in the locality are giving their examinations. The incident created panicky situation in the locality, Jina said.

She appealed to those who are responsible for the blast to clarify in  public instead of planting of bomb at residential areas.Misunderstandings, if there are, could be solved on a negotiating table instead of bomb attack, she said.
