IMC warns action against unregistered shop


Imphal: All the unregistered shop owners running in the jurisdiction of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) should get registered by May 25 for shop license, IMC says.

“Strict action will be taken as per law against those failed to register,” said caretaker mayor, L. Lokeshwor said on Tuesday during a press briefing at the conference hall of IMC, Imphal.

With the increasing number of shops ranging from small to whole seller shops need to get shop license, Lokeshwor said.

After May 25 deadline IMC officials will launch a drive to find out unregistered shops. “Any shop found unregistered at IMC will be taken action as per law,” the mayor said.

Lokeshwor clarified that IMC is yet to issue form for the shops constructed on the first floor of three Khwairamband Ima market. The allegation that some officials are taking a sum of Rs 10 lakhs in order to occupy one shop is baseless.

If any person including officials of IMC, corporator is found to involve in such activity will be punished under strict law, he said.

Lokeshwor said there are more than 300 stalls constructed on the first floor of the three Ima Keithel buildings and construction work are almost completed.

He appealed the people to cooperate with the IMC officials in the drive to make a clean Imphal city.
