AR foils cross border smuggling of contrabands including liquor, cigarette

Imphal: ​Tengnoupal battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of IGAR(S) foiled cross border smuggling of contrabands at Kwatha village, Tengnoupal district on Friday.

“During border domination patrol, troops of AR observed suspicious movements of few individuals carrying loads on their head. On being challenged by the security forces, the individuals dropped the headloads and fled into the jungle.”

On thorough search of the packages, contrabands items to include liquor, cigarettes, mosquito coils, cosmetics items, and electronic items were recovered.

The recovered items were assessed to be worth Rs 7.33 lakh. The recovered contraband items were handed over to Customs Representative, Moreh for further investigation, the AR said on Saturday.
