Search operation conducted following Telipati blast

Imphal: In follow up action of bomb blast at Telipati in Imphal East that injured one man on Friday night, Imphal West district commando unit conducted cordon and search operation at Imphal on Saturday.

The suspected IED bomb was planted near the gate of temple which was exploded at around 8.30 pm. During the blast one 27 years old man named as Subham Prasah, 27, resident of Telipati was injured.

In connection with the incident a case was registered at Porompat police station.

As precautionary measures to avoid such unwanted incident Imphal West district police commando conducted the operation along the stretch of Kalibari, MG Avenue, Majorkhul road and around Sani Mandir in Thangal Bazar of Imphal city.

The operation was conducted from 3.40 pm to 4.20 pm.

During the operation around 190 persons were detained for verification and released after verification.

Locals of Telipati staged a sit-in protest at Telipati denouncing the bomb blast in residential area.

No individual or underground organisation has claimed responsible for the blast till the filing of this report.
