Drug peddler nabbed with 13 kg opium

Imphal: A NAB team on Sunday nabbed one drug peddler from Kwakta Moirang Turel Mapal under Moirang Police station during the War on Drugs of the Manipur government.
The apprehended drug trafficker was identified as Nengsuanhau Guite alias Haopu, 42, son of late Thangoukhup Guite, resident of Gangpimol, Churachandpur district.
From his possession, the NAB team seized 13 packets of suspected opium weighing about 13 kg. Its approximate value was Rs 9,10,000 in the local market. A mobile handset was also seized from his possession, police said on Tuesday.
The drug was detected during random and surprise checking of passers-by in different locations as a part of the War on Drugs, it added.
During preliminary investigation, the accused stated that he took the suspected drug from one person in Churachandpur district to deliver to another person in Kwakta area. The linkages are established and an effort is made to arrest the associates, police said.
