Water level rises above warning levels in Manipur rivers
Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Wednesday said due to incessant rains in the last few days, the state is facing issues like floods in Jiribam, landslides in some areas, but the government is fully prepared for any eventuality.
The chief minister was talking to reporters at his secretariat, here.
The government is monitoring the situation round the clock, and required relief is being provided through the concerned deputy commissioners, Biren said.
Stating that this is a seasonal occurrence, he urged the people to face ii together. He appealed to the people of the state to ensure that the drainage around their homes isn’t clogged.
Water level at Imphal, Iril, Nambul, Nambol Thoubal, Manipur rivers have crossed above the warning level, state water resources department reported on Wednesday morning.
It said gate number II, III and IV of Ithai barrage are opened at 3.50m, 5.00m and 4.00m respectively and gate number I and V are fully closed. All gates of Imphal barrage are fully opened. Shamushang Regulator is fully closed.
