CO suspended for misutilising uniform personnel
Imphal: A special drive has been initiated to check the number of vehicles allocated to ministers, MLAs and all officials in Manipur including the head of departments, and to takeover additional vehicles found in their possession.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh said this during a press briefing at his secretariat on Wednesday.
Chief secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar and DGP P. Doungel were present during the press conference.
Biren issued a strong warning against any police officer utilizing uniformed personnel over and above their assigned official duties at their residences as he said CO of 7th MR was found doing so during a recent simultaneous raid at different locations has been put under suspension.
Acting on a very specific report of power abuse, an investigation was conducted against the CO wherein he was found utilising the police personnel as labourers for construction of two houses and also for his household chores, even washing clothes, he said.
“I strongly condemn it and cannot tolerate such excesses,” the chief minister said.
