2 cops involved in drug cases, drug user cops will be terminated: Biren


Imphal: No drug addicts or users will be terminated from the state force and they will be given force retirement, Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said during the flag off event of “Career on Wheels”, on Friday, here.

The Chief minister told reporters that two drug peddlers were arrested along with drugs from Lilong Leihaokhong Leikai on Wednesday. During the investigation of the case, two police personnel were found involved in connection with the drug case.

The two police personnel are both assistant sub-inspectors–Tamijur and Rijwan. They were posted at Narcotic Cell, Imphal East and Tengnoupal District Police presently attached at Imphal East District Police.

Biren said both the cops have been suspended from their service and were asked to surrender themselves by Friday.

However, they failed to surrender themselves, as follow up action the two police personnel will be arrested and will terminate from their service, the chief minister said.
