Rs 3 crore worth Brown Sugar seized in Manipur

Imphal: Tengnoupal battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling of narcotics at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal on Thursday.

During routine checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle. On thorough search of the vehicle, 1.5 kg of Brown Sugar in 37 soap cases concealed inside the front and rear of the vehicle were recovered, the Assam Rifles said on Thursday.

The seized narcotics were assessed to be worth Rs 3.01 crore.

The recovered items along with the drug peddler were handed over to Moreh Police for further investigation, the paramilitary force said.
