8812 cough syrup bottles found concealed in sand

Imphal: A team of Manipur’s Thoubal Police commando on Friday recovered 8812 bottles of cough syrup from Lilong Anoukhong, which were concealed in sand loaded in a truck.

According to police, the team recovered the cough syrup when acted on an input of shipment of contraband items transported to Lilong Athoukhong.

The team conducted search at the residence of one Makakmayum Baharulislam, 26, son of Abdul Salam of Lilong Atoukhong Mamang Leikai.

It found the truck loaded with sand. The commando team found 25 sacks concealed underneath the sand. The sacks contained 8812 bottles of Codeine Phosphate cough syrup.

Baharulislam was arrested. He along with the seized items and the truck was handed over to Lilong police station.
