2.22 kg Heroin recovered from truck tyre in Manipur


Imphal: A teambof Imphal East district police on Wednesday recovered 2.228 kg of Heroin powder concealed in a spare tyre of a truck in Imphal district of Manipur.

Acting on a specific information, a team of Imphal East district police detained one Truck  bearing regd no MN06T 1820 at Khabam Lamkhai near Sushma Photo studio, a police report said.

On disclosure of the occupants of the truck Abhinash Koli, 30, son of Pasuram Koli of Mantripukhri Devi lane (driver) and Sagar Sharma, 18, son of Deepak sharma of Kanglatombi Durga Mandir residing at present at Senapati Wokha  bazaar, seized, after adhering to  procedures and in the presence of Magistrate and gazetted officer, 176 soap cases of suspected  Heroine No. 4 powder weighing about 2.228 kg which was kept concealed inside a spare tyre of the said truck at 1.30 pm from the spot, it added.

Two mobile phones belonging to the  arrestees and the truck were also seized by the police.

The arrested persons and the seized items were being handing over to Heingang Police station for taking up further legal procedures, the police report said.
