Pony owners cautioned


Imphal: Letting loose of pony and straying on the street is a penal offence liable to be prosecute under the Indian Penal Code, 1973 under the provisions of the Cattle – Trespass Act, 1871, veterinary director Ng. lbotombi Singh cautioned pony owners on Wednesday.

The director made an ‘earnest’ appeal to the people of Manipur in general and the horses, ponies owners in particular to take proper care of their animals and not to let loose them from their respective sheds or compound so as to avoid any unintended consequences to the public.

He reminded to the public, specially the pony owners and lovers that the number of livestock specially horses and ponies along with their colts are letting loose by their owners and thereby loitering and straying on the roads of in and around Imphal city causing not only nuisance, inconveniences to the public but also causes several motor accidents leading to even losses of rnany hurnan lives including horses and ponies.

Owners of horses and ponies who have no facilities or no proper facilities to take proper care of their animals are requested to avail the facilities to kept their horses/Ponies provided by the government of Manipur located at Marjing Pony Complex at Pangei, Imphal East, Manipur and Campus of Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association, Lamphelpat, Imphal West, the director said.
