IED found in front of pharmacy near RIMS hospital


Imphal: An improvised explosive device (IED) was found in front of Lamphel Pharmacy near RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital, here on Friday.

A salesman of the pharmacy named as Lairenlakpam Armandip came to open the shop at around 7.30 am. When he was was about to open the shutter of the medicine shop one black polythene was seen lying in front of the shop.

He said that when he opened the plastic bag one steel can was found inside and one keypad mobile was found inside the can.

Immediately he informed the owner of the pharmacy, Hawaibam Joychandra and police.

A team if Imphal Police station rushed to the spot and blocked the road for some minutes as precautionary measured against unwanted incident.

A team of Manipur Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad came and diffused the explosive device at around 9.13 am and seized the bomb.

The bomb is a remote control IED explosive, police said.

Later the said bomb was disposed at an isolated place in Lamphel area.
