Brown Sugar factory busted in Manipur


Imphal: Manipur’s government’s War on Drugs has accomplished another mission with Thoubal District Police busting a Brown Sugar factory at the residence of a lady in Moijing Mina Bazar in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Tuesday.

Following information about running a Brown Sugar factory in Moijing area, a team of district police commando assisted by women police conducted a raid at the residence of Thoubalmayum Bibi wife of Th. Kadimur alias Kadim, a police report said.

The police team found the accused person Bibi. Four large yellow plastic sacks, one blue plastic brite container and one red plastic brite container suspected Heroin (Brown sugar) weighing a total of 222.85 kg were found in her house.

On further searching inside the house, the police team found items used for processing of opium to produce Heroin (Brown Sugar) were also found. The items were one wooden crushing machine, one electric mixing machine and a weighing machine, two bottles containing a total of 1.5 litres of Ammonium Chloride, 134 litres of a chemical liquid solution found inside two plastic brite containers, plastic containers, one aluminium container, gas burner and a cylinder.

The police team in the mission was led by O. Wangkhomba, additional superintendent of police (Ops) Thoubal. He was assisted by inspector N. Sadananda Singh officer-in-charge commando unit, Thoubal.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, superintendent of police, Thoubal district.

The items found in the factory were seized and the resident was arrested. A regular NDPS case has been registered for further investigation, the police report said.
