Manipur cops rewarded with Rs 10 lakh for recovering Rs 58.95 crore worth Heroin No. 4

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday rewarded Kangpokpi District Police personnel who recovered Heroin No.4 Powder on May 9 and June 10.

In two separate successful major seizures under War on Drugs of N. Biren Singh led Manipur government, the Kangpokpi District Police had seized 4.271 kg of Heroin worth about Rs 58.95 crore in international market.

In recognition of this major seizure which have boosted the morale of the entire police force, the state govt has extended a reward of Rs 10 lakh to the Kangpokpi District Police, chief minister Biren Singh said.

“I’m proud of the exceptional work done by the Manipur police in other districts as well. They will also be rewarded accordingly,” the chief minister said.

During the reward presentation ceremony held at the chief minister’s secretariat on Tuesday Biren told the officers, “We are always and will be behind you. Let’s do the right thing. Recently my own brother’s son was suspended. Let’s start from ourselves.”

ADGP Clay Khongsai narrated the incidents before the chief minister.

On May 9 Kangpokpi District Police recovered Heroin No. 4 worth Rs 31.80 crore. Three persons including a cop were arrested.

On June 10 the district police recovered Herion No.4 worth Rs 27.15 crore. In this connection two drug peddlers were arrested.

DGP P. Doungel expressed his happiness to the chief minister for giving recognition to the Kangpokpi District Police. Not only Kangpokpi District Police, other districts police are also doing well. The contribution of other districts will also be acknowledged, he said.

These two incidents have boosted the morale of the police force as well as the War on Drugs, especially because in the national highway between Imphal and Mao there has been so much seizures of drugs which mainly come from Myanmar side, he added and appreciated the Kangpokpi Police.

Biren handed the reward to superintendent of police, Kangpokpi, Amrita Sinha with a traditional muffler. He encouraged the Kangpokpi cops by presented traditional mufflers to them.
