Manipur cop arrested with 3 kg Brown Sugar


Imphal: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) police arrested one police drug trafficker who was ferrying Brown Sugar along Imphal-Saikul road in Imphal East district of Manipur on Thursday.

The drug dear was Seilenthang Kilong, 31, son of Thangkhosat Kilong of Thangkanphai village, Saikul, Kangpokpi district.

The NAB  police team apprehended him during surprise frisking and checking, as a part of Manipur’s War on Drug, at Purum Likli area along Imphal-Saikul road.

The team recovered and seized 3 kg of Brown Sugar; two mobile phone handsets, Poco, with one SIM card each; one service Identity card issued by SP Bishnupur; and one blue Activa Scooter without registration number.

“The arrested person is found to be a police constable posted at Reserve Line, Bishnupur district. The police constable is placed under suspension,” a NAB police report said.

Further investigation is taken up by registering a case at NAB police station, it added.
