Flood Alert in Pherzawl, major rivers flow above warning level in Manipur

Imphal: Pherzawl district administration has issued Alert notice as there is likelihood for occurrence of flood in many areas of the district.
The notice issued on Monday stated that in view of the incessant rainfall experienced in the district for the last few days and the rising level of rivers in the district, it is seen that there is likelihood for occurrence of flood in many areas of the district.
Therefore, it is hereby notified for information to all concerned to be alert and take up precautionary measures in close coordination with all stakeholders, it added.
In case of any emergency, mobile numbers 9856673941 or 8837267774 of the SDO, Tipaimukh and Vangai Range can be contacted, the notification said.
On Saturday the Bishnupur district administration issued flood alert notice to all concerned and take precautionary measures with the rising of water level of the rivers in the district.
The incessant rain in the state had caused landslides at Tujan Waichong in Kangpokpi district damaging houses and affected several paddy fields.
The Khoupum Area Farmers Association, Noney district drew immediate attention of the government in view of the flash flood in the hills. The rainfall have ‘extensively’ damaged crops in almost all the arable areas.
Major rivers in Manipur at present flows above flood level while some are flowing above the warning level as the state, according to state water resources department.
Two gates of Ithai Barrage and all gates of Imphal Barrage were also opened.
