Manipur police seize 3.3 kg opium, 2 arrested

Imphal: A combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and personnel of Nambol police station seized 3.3 kg of opium on Tuesday evening and arrested two drug traffickers from near Leimaram Waroiching outpost.

The arrested person were identified as one Raju Bhattarai, 27, son of Bishnu Bhattarui of New Keithelmanbi near ABI Checkon and Khaihen Kipgen, 47, son of late Thongkhomang Kipgen of Khoripok village, Kangmong Maning.

The drug smugglers fell in police hands during police frisking under the guidance of superintendent of police, Bishnupur, Herojit Meitei.

The arrested person along with the seizures have been taken to Nambol police station for further necessary legal action. A case has been registered at the said police station under NDPS Act, a police report said on Wednesday.
