Vehicles parked beyond restrictions in Imphal city seized

Imphal: Traffic Control police has conducted drive in the Imphal city of Manipur against illegal parking and illegal footpath encroachers, and seized various illegal parked vehicles on Wednesday.
State government machineries have been taking various initiatives by issuing orders to ease traffic congestion in the Imphal City. Commuters are still ignoring the government orders and continuied the practice of illegal parking and multiple parking.
Commuters have been ignoring government orders and are parking at their own choice along Thangal Bazar and Paona Bazar stretches.
Most of the shop keepers are also encroaching the footpath for their own benefit by ignoring the feasibility of pedestrians.
A team of traffic control police wing led by its superintendent of police, Wungpam Kasar told reporters that commuters need to have some common sense before they park their vehicle where public parking is not allotted. Due to the illegal parking and encroaching at footpath areas by shopkeepers, many commuters and pedestrians are facing various issues, he added.
He said for illegal parking the traffic police will take serious action under motor vehicles Act.
For Paona and Thangal market stretch necessary action will start taking against illegal parking and to those illegal footpath encroached shopkeepers, the officer said.
The drive was conducted along the RIMS road stretch, Uripok road, Khwairamband market area and others.
