Woman apprehended with Heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore

Imphal: Bishnupur Police of Manipur on Saturday apprehended one woman who was ferrying Heroin powder near Torbung area in Bishnupur district of Manipur.

The woman drug smuggler was identified as T. Nemneilhing alias Lhingbem, 42, wife of Paolen Haokip of K. Zalenmoul village, Tengnoupal, at present residing at New Lamka, Churachandpur.

On receiving an Information about movement ol contraband items near Torbung area, a team of Imphal West Police including women personnel under the supervision of SP Imphal West rushed at the area by giving information to Bishnupur District Police. With the assistance of SDPO Moirang, the team led by Imphal Police station nabbed the woman, a police press note said.

On checking the gunny bag carried by her, 60 soap caps containing suspected Heroin powder were found, it added.

By observing formalities, she was attested at the spot at 5 pm and the Heroin powder. The total weight of the contraband items is 750 gram (excluding the weight of the soap caps). The price in international market will be about Rs 1.5 crore, the press note said.

The arrested person and seized items will be handed over to Moirang Police station for necessary action, it added.
