Employees decide to immediately launch cease work strike over pay irregularity
Imphal: Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees’ Organisation (AMGEO) has cautioned N.Biren Singh led BJP government to launch cease work strike immediately if the fails to release the backlog salaries of employees for upto the month of May immediately.
The decision to launch the cease work strike was taken in a meeting held at the JAC office, here on Monday afternoon.
The JAC represented by the Executive Council and representatives of various departments and offices had a lengthy and in depth discussion on the matter of irregular and preferential disbursement of monthly salaries and pensions of pensioners.
It also demanded to disburse the salaries of employees and pension of pensioners on time and on regular basis at par with the employees of secretariat services and home department, effective from next month i.e. from the month of July (being pay for the month of June).
Listing the demands the JAC submitted a memorandum to chief minister N. Biren Singh highlighting the resolution to launch cease work immediately against failure of salaries payment.
“The JAC has also taken a very serious note on the attitude of the government towards the unjust and partial, unequal and preferential treatment meted out to its employees in regard to payment of monthly salaries which the JAC considers an attempt of dividing the employee’s community,” the JAC said in the memorandum.
‘Pending salaries of Manipur government employees will start to disburse on May 27’
Manipur finance department on May 24 assured the Joint Administrative Council to start disbursing pending monthly salaries of employees on May 27. The finance officials also assured that there will be regular disbursement of salaries from June 3 onwards in the first week of the months to follow.
On June 9 the JAC pointed out the discrimination in the disbursement of salaries amongst various departments to special secretary (finance) and urged to disburse the salaries of Manipur government employees on a single day.
