Five arrested following June 14 Brown Sugar factory bust

Imphal: Manipur Police, as a follow up of the investigation to the recent busting of a Brown Sugar factory on June 14 at Moijing Mina Bazaar by Thoubal District Police, so far arrested five persons of the drug racket.

On June 14 one Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi, 48, wife of Th. Kadimur alias Kadim along with  massive seizure of brown  sugar.

The five persons arrested were Bembem, 28, wife of  Md Tamijur Rahaman alias Ningthou of Moijing Mina Bazar; Zamzam, daughter of Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi; Rahena, 39, wife of Md Idrish Khan of Kiyam  Siphai Leitanpok Leikai; Md Fazlur Rahaman alias Abbas, 41, son og Rejoul  Haque of Lilong  Leihaokhong; and  Md. Noor, 28, son of  Md Tomei of Moijing Awang Leikai.

Bembem was arrested on June 21 from Thoubal Wangmataba,  Zamzam on June 22 from Porompat, Rahena on June 23 from Moijing Leingoijil, Md Fazlur Rahaman on June 24 from Kakwa  Naorem Leikai and  Md. Noor was arrested on June 27 from Moijing Mina Bazaar.

Massive efforts are still on to arrest of other involved members of this drug manufacturing racket as well as suppliers, financiers, drug dealers and transporters, a police report said.

House  searches are also being  conducted on a daily basis  at  suspected hideouts at Moijing area and other  locations to detect drugs and also to look out for  those involved persons and  suspects who are still absconding from the police, it added.
