WY worth Rs 5 crore recovered in Manipur

Imphal: The Assan Rifles on Saturday recovered one lakh tablets of World is Yours (WY), a methamphetamine drug, from  New Songjang village, Chandel district of Manipur.

Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled the cross border smuggling.

The paramilitary force said troops of Assam Rifles, based on an input, established check post and intercepted two individuals moving suspiciously on a motorcycle. On being challenged, the individuals escaped by speeding up their bike. However, troops of Assam Rifles succeeded in snatching the suspicious package from pillion rider.

The package was found containing WY tablets, and seized.

The seized contrabands were assessed to be worth Rs 5 crores, the Assam Rifles said.

The recovered items were handed over to Chandel Police for further investigation, it added.
