Manipur police foil attempt to smuggle fertilizer to Myanmar

Imphal: Manipur police have foiled transporting of 300 bags of fertilizers to Myanmar by intercepting two trucks ferrying the fertilizers at Kolum village on Tuesday.

The two trucks loaded with Indian origin fertilizers were intercepted by a police team during a night patrolling at Kolmun village area in Churachandpur district at around 1:20 am.

The fertilizers were to be transported from Imphal to Myanmar via Beihang road along Tiddim road.

The trucks bear registration number MN04P-0635 and MN05C-2706.

The drivers of the trucks have been identified as one Chinthengthang, 22, son of Kapmuankap and Chinsuanlam, 28, son of Khaikhalian both from Saiboh Village, Sangaikot sub-division, a police report said.

The fertilizers were seized for trying to export to a foreign country ‘without any valid authority’. The fertilizers were seized at the spot and handed over to custom authority for further necessary action, it added.
