Two UKNA cadres arrested

Imphal: Churachandpur Police of Manipur arrested two cadres of United Kuki National Army (UKNA) from Tuibong area of Churachandpur on Tuesday.

The district police had received information that one non-SoO group UKNA had given extortion notes and was involved in extortion activity by threatening some village chiefs. People were scared to report it to the police.

During the course of investigation two active members of UKNA were  seen in a white vehicle (Gypsy) for extortion activities around Tuibong area.

Under the supervision of superintendent of police Shivanand Surve, the police have conducted a special operation in the area.

During the operation the two active members of UKNA were arrested along with one white Gypsy having no registration Number from the district head Qqarter near Fire Brigade office.

The two UKNA members were identified as Nohminthang Haokip aged alias Thangboi, 34, son of Lunkhogin Haokip of Tongal Veng, Churachandpur, and Lunminhao Haokip alias Haopu, 25, son of  Letmang Haokip of f Henglep, residing at present at PB Vengnom, Churachandpur.

The duo admitted that they were working under one UKNA self-styled C-In-C Thangmang.

They were produced before the CJM for further investigation, police said.
