Biren appeals to wear face mask

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said with the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Manipur in the last few days, people should wear face mask voluntarily to avoid spreading of the virus.

Biren was speaking to reporters on the sideline of the tree plantation programme conducted at Eshingchaibi area of Nongmaiching Reserved Forest in connection with the celebration of 73rd Van Mahotsav on Thursday.

Biren said concerned department is yet to issue order however he had instructed to all the officials to start scanning with thermal machine at state entry points including Bir Tikendrajit International Airport among others as precautionary measures.

Since 1st wave of the pandemic a total of 1,37,367 people have been tested positive, out of the total positive cases 2,120 people have died die to COVID-19.

On Thursday a total of 295 samples were tested and 22 people were tested positive. There were no report of Covid related death. The number of positive cases has been escalated to 97 cases.
