Forest and environment minister Th. Bishorjit led the tree plantation.

Forest department is targeting to plant 75 lakh saplings in commemoration of the 75th year of India’s Independence, the minister told reporters. He thanked the students for participating in the plantation.
A human being requires oxygen for survival and to meet the requirements we must plant more saplings, he said and urged the students to plant more trees, especially on special occasions like birthdays which will be a pleasant reminder for them when they become an adult.
The state government has been organising tree plantation drives across the state to combat climate change and to inculcate the idea of forest conservation.
