People stage protest in Imphal against killing of trader from Bihar


Imphal: Demanding to immediately book the culprits who were involved in the killing of a non-local at Uchol village in Imphal East, under the jurisdiction of Andro police station on Friday, many non-locals staged a sit-in at Telipati on Saturday.

The non-local is identified as one Silendra Sah, 35, son of Vishwanath Sha of Bihar presently staying at a rented house at Ragailong along with his wife and three daughters.

According to police Silendra was a mobile grocery supplier. He was shot dead by unknown armed miscreants at Uchol village. Two injury marks of bullets were found on the head of the body and three empty cases and one live ammunition of 9 mm were found at the spot.

It was said that Shailendra Shah was shot while he was returning on his moped after supplying grocery items at Andro. He was at high speed but the miscreants chased him and shot him on the head.

The body was deposited at JNIMS morgue.

Soon after the incident, a team of Imphal East police rushed to the spot and carried out a massive search operations.

Rajesh Sahu, a protestor told reporters that Silendra do not have any enmity with any individual and there were no extortion threat recieved from any individual or group. He said the family has been living with the earning of Silendra. “Who will take the responsibility for the family members ?”

Those involved in the killing should clarify, he added.

He appealed the state government to book the culprits involved in the incident to deliver justice for Silendra.
