Modified loud silencer trader arrested

Imphal: Imphal West Police on Sunday arrested a vehicle spare part owner for selling modified loud silencers at his shop Aniketh Spare Parts at Khoyathong, in the heart of Imphal.

The arrrested shop owner was Suresh Kumar, 28, son of Ram Kumar Sahu resident of Telipati, Imphal East.

He was apprehended during a drive to reduce noise pollution at around 4:10 pm.

During the search, 133 numbers of modified loud silencers were found inside his shop. He was unable  to produce the authorisation to sell the modified silencer. Hence, he was arrested and seized the silencers, a police report said.

The arrested person along with the seized articles have been handed over to City Police station for further necessary action, it added.
